Yes, another dashcam review, and this time I’m going to review the FineVu X500 dual dash cam. As a regular driver, I understand the importance of having a dashcam in my car. Don’t be afraid of this small investment that will save you a lot of headache and nerves in case, let’s call it road adventures. I drive my Toyota Celica daily, and I feel much safer having a dashcam. Let’s take a look at the FineVu X500 A bit deeper.
What’s in the Box?
- FineVu X500
- Rear Camera
- Mount
- Samsung 64GB SD Card
- Rear Camera Cable
- Hardwire Power Cable (3M)
- Cigar Jack Power Cable
- External Gps Antenna
- User Manual
Design and Features
The FineVu X500 is a 2 channel dash cam that records Full HD 1080p video thanks to a 2M pixel CMOS Image Sensor that gives us 1920×1080 at a rate of 30 frames per second on both of the cams.
If you look at the front cam design, it looks just like a digital camera, at least this is how I see it.
The front cam has a quite wide viewing angel of 155° that minimizes the blind recording areas to help record all events.
On the Backside, we have a 3.5-inch IPS LCD touch screen with a resolution of 800×480, which provides us sharp and crystal clear images. Personally, I don’t see the needs of having a screen on a dashcam and I would want it to be less visible inside my car. Although it’s useful when you want easy and fast access to settings and video playbacks.
On the back side, we have the power LED indicator and the recording led indicator.
The front camera is mounted on the windshield using s special mount using a 3M tape.
On the upper side, we have DC connections, GPS connection, and rear camera connection.
On the left side we have the power switch( on/off button ), the microphone and memory card slot.
Rear Camera
The rear camera is designed like most of the cams on the market with decent performance thanks to a built-in 2M pixels CMOS Image Sensor.
We get a nice resolution of 1920×1080 30fps with a lense viewing angle of 140°.
Time Lapse
The time-lapse feature is here to help and optimize memory efficiency by lowering the recording frame rate automatically when you are driving your vehicle normally. But in case of a an event, collision, or accident, the maximum frame rate is restored to normal.
ADAS Plus
ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) is a nice addon that makes your driving experience much easier, efficient, and safe. The ADAS system helps you identify lane departures, traffic lanes, and front vehicles automatically. When your car deviates from the traffic lane, when the vehicle in front of you starts moving, or your driving to close to the front vehicle, you will receive notifications. You can see and hear the warnings and alerts on the LCD screen.
Parking Monitor
You can come across a highly responsive parking monitor function on the FineVu X500 Dash Cam. Firstly, it records events automatically when your car stays parked. Further, this device informs what happened during the parking mode when you get back into your vehicle.
Smart Reports
Smart reports are generated to keep you informed of everything when you are away. Above all, you can get to know of all motion surroundings during your absence. Working perfectly with auto night vision and smart time-lapse, the parking monitor feature makes surveillance easy and convenient for vehicle owners.
Format Free Technology Function
Forget about the needs of formatting the memory card manually, FineVu X500 Dash Cam comes with a Format Free Technology function that eliminates the need for manual SD card reformatting.
That’s a nice feature as some dash cams will require manual formatting and its not comfortable at all.
Secret Mode
An interesting feature that some may wonder how necessary it is. If you’re worried about others getting access to your footage. Thanks to the Secret Mode feature you can prevent unwanted access using a password. Only people with a password can have access to your files.
Battery Discharge Prevention, Temperature Protection
In case of a battery voltage drop, when the voltage comes down and reaches below a preset level, battery power is cut off to stop the discharge.
This is a nice safety measure that will keep your data safe.
When the temperature goes past a particular level Further, this dashcam stops functioning automatically. Preventing overheating effectively, and takes care of all the store’s data.
FineVu PC PLAYER
FineVu offers an app where you can playback, capture, enlarge the videos you have recorded using the FineVu dashcam. Unfortunately, Mac users won’t be able to enjoy the FineVu PC PLAYER because it only supports windows.
Dashcam Installation
Like most dashcams, the FineVu X500 installation is straightforward, all we need to do is to connect the mount to the dashcam, peel off the 3m tape from the mount and attach the cam to the windshield, connect the power, GPS cable( optimal), and your good to go.
The rear dash cam installation is the same, the only issue will be, hiding the long power cable throughout your car( through the roof panel or the side panels).
One cool thing I really liked, was the x500 lighted emblem, which gives the dashcam a premium look.
Day Time Video
Day time videos during a cloudy, rainy day.
Night Time Video

My Opinion
Although you might never heard of FineVu before, they are a well-known brand in Korea and they make quite good dashcams. FineVu X500 shoots nice quality videos and at good lighting the image is clear and details are visible.
The dashcam build quality is very good and you don’t feel it a low-end product. I would prefer getting a USB charging power cable and I don’t see any reason having an LCD screen but that’s my opinion. Overall, it’s a user-friendly dashcam that offers a very good value for the money.
If you’re looking for a dual dashcam with good quality video capability and you are on a budget, FineVu X500 is a dashcam that you should consider.
