Zenfox T3 – 3 Channel Dashcam Review

Dashcams should be a-must in every car, some people realize it after a bad experience they had where they wish they had one. Every year technology involves and so do dashcams. Today I’m going to review a very interesting dashcam called Zenfox T3.

Your probably wondering why this dashcam is different from other dashcams? It’s a 3 channel dashcam that can record not only the front and rear of your vehicle but the inside as well!
Let’s take a look at the Zenfox T3 3 Channel Dashcam a litter bit further.

Design and Features

The Zenfox T3 3CH main unit is quite big, the only dashcam I can compare it in terms of size was the Rexing V1 Pro. I’m all for smaller stealth cams but that’s my personal opinion. It definitely will be hard and near impossible to hide but some people don’t bother care less about dashcam visibility in vehicles.

The main unit houses the main front camera and the in-cabin camera. Zenfox added the GPS united inside, that’s a great thing because external GPS is a mess( another cable to hide and connect).

Front Camera

The Zenfox T3 3CH main camera is quite bulk lt and powered by a Sony IMX335 sensor capable of recording in 2K QHD resolution. Out of all the 3 cameras, its the only one that can capture in 2K QHD resolution. The camera can be tilted in all 4 directions to provide a better angle. The camera view angle is 160-degrees that allows it to capture more broad footage with fewer blind spots.

On the front we have a 2.0” LCD display to help us control Zenfox functionality.

On the left side we have Power button,Reset slot, Power cable connection, read camera connection.

The only thing we have on the right is the micro SD slot that support up to 256GB.

The video quality of the camera is quite good, on bright days we get a clear picture, and car license plates are readable. At low light, like many dashcams on the market image quality get worse. At night time with no streetlights, license plates and street signs are not visible. Most dashcams on the market suffer from this, so don’t be surprised, don’t expect miracles on dark highways outside cities.

Rear Camera

The rear camera uses a Sony IMX291 and is a critical witness in rear collisions or backing accidents. If good lighting conditions is able to record videos that makes license plates readable. At night it suffers in terms of video quality more than the front cam because the rear car lights are much weaker than the front headlights.

Hardware kit

This hardwearing kit is very useful if you are looking for 24h protection but it requires the additional $ and not so nooby friendly when it comes to installation. It’s an add-on option that you can buy.

Cabin Camera

The cabin camera uses a Sony IMX307 that’s capable of recording in 1080p, pretty decent video quality for its function and location. The good side is the infrared mode that is able to retain its picture quality even in grayscale.

If you are wondering, why do you need an In-cabin camera? You are right, its not something most people need but necessary for some category of drivers. Taxi, Uber, and vloggers are the main categories of people who will benefit from the cabin camera but vloggers might not like the audio recording quality because it’s not as good as a smartphone quality mic.

The quality of the camera is quite impressive, especially during bright days, when colors really pop out and, more importantly, signs are clearly readable. It isn’t so bad during overcast and cloudy days though quality naturally drops at night when there are no street or traffic lights nearby to help it. That said, it isn’t so terrible that you won’t be able to make out details but doesn’t expect miracles on dark highways outside cities.

Zenfox App

This is something I always find useful when brands that sell dashcams offer apps to help control and use their dashcams.
The Zenfox T3 3CH has a nice comfortable app where you can control all of the dashcam’s settings instead of using the main unit 2.5 LCD screen that some, might find tiny and not so comfortable using.

Another thing you can use the mobile app, you can watch a live view of all 3 cams separately or all together. The really useful feature is, downloading and recording videos directly from the camera to your phone without going through the usual cycle of having to remove the SD card.

Installation

Yes, it’s a bulky dashcam, but the installation is the same as for most dashcams, trouble-free fast Install( when it comes to the main unit). Always use a pry tool that comes with all the dashcams, that help in tucking cables inside trims without damaging them.

For the front unit, find a spot that won’t get in the way and limit your driver view, usually under or behind the rearview mirror.

The Zenfox T3 is powered by a cigar Jack Power Cable with a hidden USB port, much more comfortable because you can charge another device while using the dashcam. The only bad thing I can say about the cigar Jack Power Cable is I would love to see, better build quality materials.

Things I didn’t like:

  • The main unit is bulky.
  • A bit expensive to my taste.
  • the Wi-Fi access point isn’t the best and the Live View and file transfer sometimes are a bit slow.

My Opinion

Even though it’s a bulk dashcam, it produces good quality footage on all the 3 cams. The Build quality is good enough and does everything it claims it can do. One of the things I would like to see is a cheaper price tag that will definitely bring more buyers interest. This dashcam will be perfect for Taxi and Uber drivers and will cover all the needed areas.

If you are looking for a 3 channel dash cam that provides good quality image and good build quality, Zenfox T3 is a dashcam you should look at.
