PowerCube Extended Smart Home Review

We all use classic extenders and we can’t do without them. But we all know the disadvantages that we hate, like having 3 slots and the possibility to plug only two. That’s why Allocacoc figured out a solution for a common problem, a device called PowerCube, a smart cube shape extender that will make your life easier.

What’s in the Box?

  • PowerCube Extended SmartHome
  • Mounting Dock
  • 2 X Removable Tapes
  • Manual
  • Cable fix

Design and Features

There are many different PowerCubes but today I’m going to review the PowerCube Extended SmartHome.
The one thing in common is the ability to make your life more comfortable, unlike the older power extenders.

The PowerCube has a 1.5m-long cable and is made of hard plastic that could withstand drops and falls. Each outlet is made of black plastic and the cube its-self is white, giving the PowerCube a very interesting appearance. Let’s not forget the nicely rounded off edges and corners.

In that large cube, you will find four Type F electrical outlets and one button. The large button located on the side(Blue) and functions as a power switch and as the smart config button.

There’s a reason why the cube is called smart, your ability to control your devices at home from anywhere.
In order to control everything, you will need to download the Allocacoc Smart app (downloadable from both the Apple and Android stores).
In my case, I will be controlling one power cube but if you have several, you are able to control all of them simultaneously from a WiFi or mobile network environment.

Using the app, you can schedule different operations. For example: Turn off your water heating in the morning or control anything from the palms of your hands. You are able to switch the PowerCube SmartHome by voice giving commands to “Alexa”, “Google Assistant” or “Tmall Genie” with a compatible speaker.

The Extended models come with a docking port that you can fasten to your work surface using the provided two-way adhesive pads or screws, doing so you will block one of the cube’s four outlets. Using the small cable fix( with one screw hole ) you can mount the cable to the wall or underneath a working surface to keep it fixed or out of your way.

When we try to plug our cables using the class extenders,
a problem arises. The body of the cables is too big and it blocks on connection and there is not enough space to actually use those ports and you’re unable to plug them all to the extender.

Now, if we take our PowerCube, you can see that each post is accessible and all the cables come from different directions and it prevents them from untangling with each other and looks clean.

The PowerCube has been carefully engineered to make sure that any bulky power packs you attach to it’s four 240v outlets will not interfere with each other.

If you’re wondering how to use the Allocacoc PowerCube, here’s a great setup video
