I love my pets, to be more accurate, my 2 cats(Masha, Liza) and my dog( Tracy). Unfortunately, Im not always around, either im traveling or working. Im always wondering how they are doing while im away and im always looking for ways to entertain and watch what they are doing while im not around. Let me tell you, I found a solution that takes care of several problems I was eager to solve.
Shenzhen Skymee Technology Co. Ltd. introduced an interactive pet toy that is called, Skymee Owl Robot. A robot that connects to your home Wi-Fi network and helps you track your pets remotely through a camera lens. It helps you communicate with them through built-in speakers both ways and treating them with their favorite treats.

Design and Features
The Skymee Owl Robot is made of hard ABS-plastic and comes in only one color, white. You can understand by its name where it got its design from, yes it designed like an Owl. You can’t say anything bad about the build quality, Skymee team did a great job, same quality as the Skymee Automatic Pet Food Dispenser I reviewed a couple of months ago.
The Owl Robot has 2 big wheels on the sides that are rubber coated so it won’t be noisy when it’s driving across your apartment and gives it a good grip on any surface.
On the front, we have one 1080p camera( on the right side) that is activated when we start up the app. It has 120 wide-angle lens, 4x digital zoom, and infrared led night vision.
Thanks to the 1080p camera we get very clear videos and pictures and at night or in low light, the infrared led night vision comes to play and gives us very good shots, despite the low light conditions.
On the top we have the on/off button that we won’t use that much as it goes into standby mode when we exit the app.
Its quite obvious from where the food will be dispersed.
When the Owl Robot is on, the light indicators will turn to blue and
while charging the light indicator will turn into red.
On the back side we have the reset button, charging Micro USb port, TF-card slot( memory card to record everything), Charging indicator, Switch mode( AP/STA) and a speaker.
On the top, we have the food storage where we keep our treats.
In the tail area we have a helping ball thats basically spinning when the owl robot is moving.
We are getting extra balls and thats indicating that its a part that will need to be changed at some point.
Another add on is the cat stick( that’s how they called it in the user manual).
My cats didn’t like it that much, that’s why im not using it, but to me, it looks very funny and entertaining.
The App
Using the Skymee app is very simple, I won’t cover the installation and configuration, you can find everything in the user manual.
On the left we have 5 different auto mods, they are basically automated actions that the Owl root will do when we press it.
The battery level indicator is also located on the bottom left.
Tapping one time on the screen will allow us to pick see “hidden” options, shooting quality( HD, SD, Smooth) and picking the owl root speed( Low speed, Medium speed, High speed).
Controlling the Owl robot is more comfortable in vertical mode as it feels more natural( same as playing games on your smartphone.)
I prefer using the arrows to control the Owl root because it responses much better than controlling it using the orange circle( just like a joystick)
On the button middle, we have an option to use the microphone to talk to our pets, an option to turn on the speaker and listen, record a video, take pictures, viewing the gallery of pictures and videos we took and the most important one, giving treats to our pets.

My Opinion
I love different cool interesting gadgets and when Skymee asked me to try out their Owl Robot I could not say no. It’s not something you see every day and some people would say its not something you would need.
Let me tell you one thing, your wrong, its something you definitely want to have.
As I mentioned, I have 2 cats and when im out or traveling im using the Owl robot to basically see what my cats are doing, talk to them and give them treats/food. It took some time for my cats to get used to it but when they hear the Owl robot they run to it and basically wait for a treat to fall down.
The big advance with the Owl robot that you can drive between rooms and see whats going on, its a moving security camera or a pet nanny.
The Skymee Owl Robot is something everyone should consider buying, quality made, works great, long working time and a big helper when your not around.

Disclosure: Skymee Owl Robot was sent to me by Skymee for reviewing
I too have an Owl Robot and my Abyssinian loved it! It was our first Skymee camera after giving up on Furbo after a couple years and disappointing customer support. Though we are home now we still use it daily for a ride around the house. What I really like about the owl, apart from its mobility is the way it feeds treats for cats. My Abyssinian never like to be « thrown » treats. It scared him. But to see his buddy robot friend drop some treats, that’s his « cup of tea ». Another avantage of Skymee over Furbo is that we can have multiple Skymee cameras on the same wifi network. After buying the Owl robot, we got two more Skymee cameras: two new Petalk AI II (these are panning cameras). I don’t use the « feeding » feature of the cameras (pitching) but I love the panning. Panning gives us access to a very large view of the area; it is easily controlled from the app. The top of the cameras also serves as a charger for Qi enabled devices.
The one thing Furbo has that Skymee doesn’t is the ability to take video clips that include sound. Until w we can record stills and videos but the videos are silent. Nevertheless, I would never go back to Furbo, not after all the trouble I had after 2 years and the really very inefficient support I received, having to repeat, reexplain, and answer the same questions over and over again, my case going from one person to another without being resolved. it use to be different. I gave up.
Hi Réjane,
Im glad you like it, and Owl robot can record sound on videos as well, take a look at my video.
I’m looking at this or the varram. I already have a live cam and the varram doesn’t have a cam in it. I’m more concerned on which one actually works. Lol. Not to be rude but did you get paid to review the skymee robot?
Thanks,
Josie
Hi Josie,
Didn’t get paid to write the review, but I didn’t pay for the Owl Robot, Skymee sent it to me to review.
I have used it a lot and still using it!
Used it more like a mobile cam spying on my cats while I was abroad, while my 2 cats were home alone. It works great, very fast as well and the battery holds great!
I didn’t use Varram so I can’t recommend it.
